Chapter History
You have to know where you’ve been to know where you are going. Kappa holds a special place in its heart for Fraternity history, but every chapter of our organization has unique beginnings of its own. Each plays a part in shaping us today. Read more about our chapters’ histories in Kappa's digital archives.
On April 30, 1921 the Gamma Theta chapter was installed at Drake University. For over 90 years, our chapter has continued to excel in leadership, scholarship, and friendship, striving to better ourselves intellectually and as a sisterhood. Our network of alumnae is made up thousands of women across the world, who continue to share in the sisterhood of the Gamma Theta chapter. As one of the oldest chapters on campus, Kappas at Drake have stood as leaders on campus and in our community. From membership to honorary organizations to participation in several campus publications, Kappas continue to be recognized for their outstanding leadership and scholarship. For the past 93 years, our chapter has participated in and hosted philanthropic activities that benefit Drake and the Des Moines community. Each year, we welcome new women into the Gamma Theta sisterhood and continue to uphold the values on which our chapter was founded.
